  2. The reelection of Mr Burstow and the victory of the Lib Dems in the local council election is a dreadful result for the residents of Sutton. It is unfortunate that the local media have totally failed to highlight the financial incompetence and waste that is happening locally which Mr Burstow supports

  3. Contrastingly, I would say that the re-election of Paul Burstow to our constituency is a great result for the constituency. Not only is it not 'dreadful' because the people of Sutton and Cheam showed decisively that they want Paul as their MP, with 1600 more votes than Philippa, but also because he will continue to work incredibly hard for them, as he has done for the last 13 years. It think that we have avoided simply being another stepping stone towards reaching a Conservative government, and have instead ensured that our MP is dedicated to us, not just to overturning the Labour government.

Equally our council election reflects that people just don't trust a Conservative council to use local money effectively, when the Lib Dem council has been so strong in the last few years, and frankly it is a failure of the Conservative campaign that this is the case, no fault of the media. If the 'financial incompetence and waste that is happening locally' is that bad, why weren't the Conservative candidates spreading the word, or were they, and the voters still chose not to elect them? I think the council has done what is best for the local people, spending their money in a way which will benefit the constituency and, clearly, local people agree.

    Well done Paul!:D
