Goodbye Gordon

So Gordon Brown has left the stage, and seemed almost relieved about it as he addressed his Labour supporters. What is your verdict on his time in office, both as PM and chancellor? Any particular high and low points? What will history's verdict on him be? Have we seen the last of him...?

  1. I think Gordon Brown dealt well with a premiership littered with unfortunate events. Straight away he had to deal with terrorist attacks, flooding, and then the financial crisis, so it was never going to be easy for him. Despite many people claiming he is to blame for the recession, I don't think it can be attributed just to him and the Labour Party, especially when you consider how hard they have worked over the last couple of years to try and save our economy and country.

I think that as he resigned yesterday, many people realised what a genuine person he was, and perhaps saw that they were wrong to hate him simply because they were against his policies. In the lead up to this election, Gordon Brown has been attacked by the public and the media alike, and yesterday Gordon Brown resigned with diginity and proved that he was worthy of respect. I think he will be missed most by the Labour Party, but even those who never supported his policies will recognise that we lost a good PM yesterday.
