Michelle Bachmann used her Iowa roots to good advantage by formally declaring her candidacy in Waterlooville, Iowa where she was born. Being the first caucus, Iowa is a key state in the Republican nomination calendar. Bachmann appears to have invented herself as something called a "constitutional conservative". Americans are all proud to be American, so she was attempting to play on their love of the American constitution in order to win support. Like her, many Americans are probably ignorant to much of the original constitution so they will not question what she is saying. Those who are intelligent enough to question what she is saying, are too intelligent to have ever considered voting for her anyway
