Michael Foot, former Labour leader, dies
Michael Foot, a controversial figure while leader, has been praised highly when his death was announced yesterday. He is probably known best for his defeat in the 1983 election on a manifesto which was called 'the longest suicide note in history'! His replacement by Neil Kinnock started the reform of the Labour Party and what we know today as New Labour. Have a look at the obituaries, here on the BBC and here on Channel 4.
As you can imagine, there are plenty of interesting comments and reminiscences about Michael Foot in the Guardian, which you can link to here.
