Restoration?


Should the Monarchy have been restored in 1660? Join the debate today in the library at 1.20. There is more information about the English Restoration here and some of the arguments for and against the monarchy here. There is also a chance to show your opinion in our poll!

  1. I think the monarchy should definitely have been restored, albeit in a constitutional sense, as indeed it has been, without the Divine Right of Kings part...
    I think if we were to have continued as a Republic under Cromwell, we would have effectively had a monarchy, just going by a different title, and frankly Cromwell was no better than Charles I!
