I think the monarchy should definitely have been restored, albeit in a constitutional sense, as indeed it has been, without the Divine Right of Kings part...
ReplyDeleteI think if we were to have continued as a Republic under Cromwell, we would have effectively had a monarchy, just going by a different title, and frankly Cromwell was no better than Charles I!
